THE COMMERCIAL COMPOSERS ALLIANCE

Welcome to the Commercial Composers Alliance, the premier organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the careers of composers across South Africa. Established with a mission to empower music creators in the advertising space, CCA serves as a comprehensive resource for navigating the complexities of the music industry.

The Commercial Composers Association of South Africa  (CCA) began with legendary composer and music pioneer Rob Roy. He realised that there needed to be a standard costing for Music licensing & usage for commercials. When Rob passed, a board was established between A Nathi Sound, Audio Militia, Pressure Cooker Studios and Wonga Music. Renamed The Commercial Composers Alliance, it is a collective of musicians, independent artists, labels, recording studios, and composers united by a common goal: to protect the value of music and intellectual property (IP) across the continent. In an industry often lacking transparency and accessible information, we stand as a forum for insights, advocacy, and the promotion of fair practices.

Our mission is to ensure that creators are fairly compensated for their work and that their rights are respected and upheld. We believe that the protection of music and IP is crucial not only for safeguarding the livelihoods of artists but also for fostering creativity and innovation within the African music industry.

By advocating for the rights of creators, we aim to build a more transparent, equitable, and thriving industry that benefits all stakeholders.

The CCA provides a platform for dialogue, support, and collaboration, empowering our members with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the complexities of the music business.

Through collective action, we strive to set industry standards that promote fairness, protect creative works, and ensure that African music continues to grow and resonate on a global scale.

Our mission is to provide composers with the tools, knowledge, and network they need to thrive. We understand the unique challenges faced by music creators, and we are committed to offering guidance and support in key areas such as music rights, studio rates, and royalty structures.

Our approach emphasizes the importance of education and information-sharing, ensuring that all members are equipped with the knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of the music business.

By promoting transparency and setting industry standards, we aim to create an environment where creativity can flourish and where all contributors to the music ecosystem are fairly recognized and rewarded. We believe that by coming together as a unified group, we can more effectively address the challenges facing the African music industry, particularly in areas such as intellectual property protection, fair compensation, and industry transparency.

Through collective action, we are able to pool our resources, share insights, and create a stronger voice to advocate for the rights and interests of all members.

Together, as a unified collective, we are dedicated to driving positive change, protecting our creative works, and shaping the future of the African music industry for the betterment of all.

Understanding music rights is crucial for any composer. CCA offers in-depth guidance on copyright laws, licensing, and intellectual property rights to ensure our members can protect and profit from their creations.
